Event 3: Birth Place of the Internet

Event 3: Birthplace Of The Internet

Room of the Birthplace of the Internet!!
It was a beautiful Monday afternoon when me and a couple of my friends decided to pay a visit to the birthplace of the internet. However, what I did not realize, was how convenient this day trip would be! The Birthplace of the Internet happens to lie within the Mathematics building on the third floor of the UCLA campus. What a coincidence?!

Me at room 3420!
So, after some further research, I discovered that on the 21st day of October, 1969, at strictly 10:30pm, the first ARPANET message was sent from the UCLA campus to the Stanford Research Institute. What was so unique about the ARPANET computer network was that it was able to connect machines and send messages despite the type of device. Whereas, other forms of computer networks could only communicate amongst like devices...
The Film Poster!

Who would've thought that the college I attend was the exact location that sparked the Internet Revolution!? As I viewed the varying objects within room 3420, it finally struck me. What would my life be like without the Internet? I so quickly take for granted how easily accessible information is due to the Internet. It finally hit me that without this instant access to information my whole daily routines would be completely altered.

People in action!
Although many of the devices and machines appeared a bit confusing to me, I found that the posters and pictures hanging throughout the room were very cool! I like how they incorporated pictures of the individuals that had a major impact on the birth of the Internet, while also adding extra elements such as the poster of the film by Werner Herzog that revolves around the Digital Revolution. This was a very interesting and eye-opening experience, and I am glad I got to visit the unique Birthplace of the Internet!
